First announcementThe European Solar Telescope (EST ; https://est-east.eu/) is a project to build a next-generation 4-meter solar telescope, enabling unprecedented observations of the Sun and fostering new scientific advances in solar physics, in Sun-Earth relations physics and in space weather. EST will be optimized for studying the magnetic coupling of the solar atmosphere and will provide diagnostics of the thermal, dynamic, and magnetic properties of the solar plasma using multi-wavelength imaging, spectroscopy, and spectropolarimetry. This project, included in the European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructure (ESFRI) roadmap, is currently in a crucial phase of consolidation. The EST France 2025 workshop (https://est-france-2025.sciencesconf.org/), organised with support of the Solar-Terrestrial Thematic Action (ATST ; https://atst.osups.universite-paris-saclay.fr/) of INSU/CNRS, aims to bring together EST’s European leadership with French scientific and industrial communities interested in the project's implementation. The workshop will present the project, highlight its significance and potential applications for the French community, and facilitate discussions on France’s strategic involvement in the EST scientific consortium. The EST France 2025 workshop is open to the French scientific community and industrial partners wishing to learn more and/or interested in the project and its scientific impact. Registration if free and subject to the SOC's approval. The workshop will take place over three half-days: the afternoon of June 11th and the full day of June 12th, 2025, in Paris, in Amphitheater 43 of the Pierre and Marie Curie Campus (Jussieu) at Sorbonne University. This workshop will be held exclusively in person. Deadline for abstract submission: Wednesday May 7th 2025 |
